New Literacies is a teaching method many teachers across the globe are implementing to help students be engaged and career and college ready. Week 12

Glogster is a web based platform that allows teachers and students to create beautiful posters and presentations. This amazing interactive tool helps visual learners and all types of learners be engaged and learn using digital posters. Students can collaborate with other students online and check out their virtual posters.  Glogster allows users to add audio, images, text and video to their posters to make learning engaging and fun!

https://voicethread.com/share/10033803/ I have used Voice thread before and I’m glad that I read the article about voice thread shared by Dr. Hsu.  It explained new ways voice thread can be implemented to help ELL students, visual students, and linguistic students. In today’s world of education, teachers are focusing on each student as an individual to help them learn. Voice thread is an online application where teachers and students can post presentations, their work or media. Everyone can collaborate and comment on each other’s work. You can choose to type a message or leave a voice message and include text. This makes it easy for students that have difficulty writing. Voice thread is an engaging tool that can really benefit teachers and students.

Week 9

Blogging has had a great impact on college students in reading and literacy. Blogging helped students learn from each other and become part of a learning community. The study found a positive correlation with a higher retention rate. The article did mention there were challenges for teachers when using blogging.  The teachers were not prepared to incorporate new literacies using blogging.

Second life is a super interactive fun and engaging way to make your classroom virtual and 3D! Students can collaborate with eachother in real time using text, voice notes and messaging. Students choose their own avatar and personalize it making it super engaging and real for the students. Second life has many great features for the teachers and students to collaborate and make learning personal exciting and make use of technology.
